So, my friend Jessie was big and pregnant over the summer (she has since had the baby). The girls and I decided to throw her a half-surprise baby shower. She thought she was coming over for Domino's and dominoes, so she wasn't surprised that everyone was there, but she was surprised that there were gifts and decorations. : )
Y helped me decorate with a clothesline of onesies jury-rigged to the mantle, a washcloth bouquet that we made, and honey & sugar-rimmed mason jars for the blackberry mint lemonade.
A few hours before she was supposed to come over, Jessie called. She had just been to a doctor's appointment and was put on bedrest, but since this was the last time she'd get to see us all for a few weeks, she told her husband she still wanted to come over. His stipulation was that she had to check to make sure we weren't doing anything strenuous. ALWAYS when we get together, we sit, and we eat. But I assured her that we weren't doing Jazzercise or potato-sack races. And of course, I was secretly panicking because she was the guest of honor!
Y bought cupcakes to spell out Reid's name. Jessie opened gifts, and I think she was touched in a not-too-over-the-top kind of way.
Of course, the conversation turned to her lack of a birth plan (!) and the perils of labor and motherhood. The room got really loud when Jessie replied to everyone:
"Ehh...It can't be that hard."

Mom, do you see that my tension is messed up? How do I fix that? I think the dial got moved to a 1...
Y came over last weekend and helped me make this page. She's the one who came up with the title. You can get the supplies and see the page in person at Crop Paper Scissors at their new location.
The funny thing is that Jessie was only in labor for 45 minutes, so... it really wasn't that hard...
