Speaking of fools, listen to this. Dave and I were talking last week, and I said that I had a fleeting maternal twinge (“I don’t understand. Does that mean your uterus was throbbing?”) and asked 1. when could we get a puppy, and 2. what is his time line for kids. Here we go.
D: 35?
A: That’s 6 years!! What are we going to do for 6 years??
D: Travel.
A (Okay, trying to roll with it because we’re in Target and I’m not ready for kids rightnow anyway): Where would you want to go? And only be semi-reasonable, and just throw out places from the top of your head.
D: (thinking…)
(I need to build even more tension. It was literally 15 seconds. Stop reading and count to 15.)
D: (thinking…)
D: Oklahoma.
I’m not kidding.
A: Why?!?!?
D: Why not?
A: Because there’s nothing to do there.
D: I’ve never been there.
A (I couldn’t stop shaking my head): Fine…we’ll table that. Where else?
D (he thinks for a long moment): Taos.
This is what I have to deal with on a daily basis.
Also, on occasion, this:
Supplies: Patterned paper: Scenic Route, the Paper Studio, Echo Park, Sassafrass. Glitter paper, chipboard alphas: American Crafts. Cardstock: Bazzill. Punch: Fiskars. Rub-ons: Studio Calico. Brads: Reflections. Twine: We R Memory Keepers. Pen: Sharpie. Reinforcers: Brunswick.
Should I justify it or just pass over it? Alright, in his defense, his school has “spirit days” where the kids and teachers can dress up to promote school spirit and athletics. This was “Beach the Pirates” day, so he was a beach bum. He made a special trip to Goodwill for that gem of a tropical shirt. He’s such a good sport. And his middle-schoolers loved it.
Song: “Valerie” originally by The Zutons then covered by Amy Winehouse then that version was covered by Glee. And I know you'll be shocked, but the Glee version is my favorite. And a shout out to my two Valeries! ; )
