I was in a pickle this morning. First, I woke up thinking it was Thursday. Imagine my dismay to realize it’s only Tuesday. And that set the tone for my entire day. Second, I planned my whole outfit around a new necklace I got this weekend, but when I put everything on, the necklace was the wrong length for my sweater – too short to be long and too long to be short. I even tried it on the shortest and longest chain lengths.
Then, an epiphany.
I trimmed a piece of gray ribbon (it matches my pants) to about 4” long. I tied it in a very tight knot on the chain end of my necklace. Then I clasped the necklace on the other side of the ribbon (but not the ribbon). The ribbon stopped the clasp from sliding off the end and kept the chain at the length I wanted.
If you have short hair or wear your hair up, you could use a much wider and longer ribbon and tie a bow (even if you didn’t want to shorten the necklace).
What’s that old adage? A ribbon can cover a multitude of sins?
