More classic American gems. Seriously, it's a marketing campaign. Someone email me for the rights.
I was in awe of these photos. I kept showing my friends the photos: "Look! Doesn't she look like a model? I mean, LOOK!!"
This was one of those great pages where I had clear visions in my mind and then everything came together.
Supplies: Patterned Paper: Cosmo Cricket. Alphas, tags: American Crafts. Brads: American Crafts + dear lizzy. Ink: Tim Holtz. Punch: Fiskars. Thread, lace.
Here's the journaling: I don't know if my grandmother is even drinking Coca-Cola in these photos, but I think she looks just like a classic pin-up with her tasteful swimsuit, long legs, and that famous carefree smile. Gloria Zander September 1959.

My original title was "a Coca-Cola pin-up," but I didn't have all of the letters for that, so I changed it to "a Coca-Cola beauty." I used script letters for "Coca-Cola" to mimic the Coke font. I used gray fabric-covered letters for "a" and "beauty" to contrast the rest of the title. I stuck to a pretty tight color pallette. The gray letters mime a traditional silver, and of course, the red and cream are reminiscent of Coke's colors. I love the aqua with the red and cream, plus aqua always reminds me of the beach. Perfect.
The one thing I did that I don't normally do is ink. I inked everything so it matched the creamy paper. The two journal tags at the top right of the page were bright white. I used Tim Holtz Old Paper ink to tone them (and all of the other cutouts and punched pieces of paper) down. It completes the antique look and creates cohesion.
I use lots of machine-stitching, too, and I practiced stitching in layers.
And I threw in a few unexpected elements - a pink flower brad and a small strip of lace.
I mean, love love. : )
