In my haste to embrace my new motto and just start, I just stopped...blogging. I don't really know what happened other than I just didn't have those blogging gems running through my head like I usually do. I did develop a nagging twinge of guilt that maybe I was letting someone down which was eventually confirmed by my mother but about 10 days after I expected. Hmm.
So, here's what's been going on for the last two and a half weeks.
I have a new favorite song. It's Adele "Rolling in the Deep." I've listened to it at least 30 times in the last two days. No joke. But I only like it really loud.
I'm reading Irene Spencer's "Shattered Dreams." It's her memoir about her life as a Fundamentalist Mormon and a polygamist's wife. It's really intriguing. I already have four people to pass it onto (the book, not polygamy).
I just finished watching the TV series Angel. I know. Yes, the one where he's a a vampire. But he has a soul! I know. Here's a snipet from two weeks ago.
Dave: What's going on with that guy?
Me: He has 24 hours to kidnap the baby because he thinks that Angel is going to kill the baby because Holtz has been spiking Angel's blood with the baby's blood so that Angel will get a taste for it and want to eat Connor. It's the prophesy. And Lorne just figured out what Wes was doing because he can read people's souls but only when they sing, but he doesn't know why Wes is taking Connor because Wes tackled him first.
Dave: That doesn't make any sense.
Me: How does that not make sense?
Dave has been cooking lots of fresh fish lately. We've tried orange roughy and trout, but tilapia is the favorite so far. He does it in the cast iron skillet with a little oil, lemon juice, and various seasonings.
Barkley is in a little bit of a rebellious teenager phase. He's testing his (our) boundaries, which is strange for him because he's so mild-mannered. Him and Dave have had lots of talks.
We have lots of family time on the docket. We visited my grandparents last week, Dave's parents are visiting this week, my parents are visiting next week, and there's a trip to see San Antonio grandma in the mix.
We are also engaging in the annual tax season adjustments. I started overtime last week, so Dave is taking on more than his share of the housework, and we're being intentional about spending time together and going to bed early.
So, that's the scuttlebutt summary. Oh, and I'm back on the proverbial blogging horse.
Enough about me - how have you been?
