(Remember when you were in elementary school and you were in a foot race and you'd say, "On your mark, get set, GORILLA!" and laughed at the kid next to you who started running?)
I'm slow out of the gate for welcoming 2011.
I've been on a real lazy streak lately. It started before Thanksgiving. I had big plans to start working out, cooking, cleaning (!), and knock out my to-do lists. That got pushed back to the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Then I procrastinated until two days before Christmas Eve. I declared New Year's Day as a turning point. Alas, it was not to be.
I happened to see this on Elise's blog today. You can buy it in her shop. It's the perfect swift kick to my lethargy.
I think this might be my 2011 mantra. Just start. 2010 was better to me than 2009, and I'm ready for 2011 to be filled with new starts. 2011: The year of doing. Making it happen. Taking advantage. Going for it. Feet Head first. I want to get things done. Try things, see things. [Don't be scared, little girl.] Go. Just start.
I sketched this last summer. It's a scrapbook page that I want to make about my tentativeness. I have ideas, goals, dreams, but I'm scared. The sketch was meant to motivate me, but like I said, I did it last summer and never made the page.

Alright, Angela. Just start.
Today is the day - my first day of the new year. Today is the day because today is the day that I realized why I've been so lazy (besides that it's part of my personality). Normally, my craft room is like an oasis. I love hanging out in here. But my desk is a wreck. I have piles on top of piles on the floor. Nothing is where it goes. Everything is just crammed. It's discouraging to look at.
So, tonight I'm giving my room a face lift, a fresh coat of paint, if you will. Here's the before shot.
Okay, so cleaning my room isn't monumental, but it's creating a clean slate. Just start.
As far as resolutions go, my only one is to take at least one photo every day. It doesn't have to be fancy, artistic, or even particularly good. The idea is just to be thinking, be ready, and be creative. I'll post them at the end of each month.
AND...GO!!!!!
